Hello Everybody,

I know that I just wrote you but have some time because I came here 3 hours early for an appointment that didn't happen. I am hoping that Nasty Nurse is not there tonight.. For those who think that I can ignore her, this is impossible. We work with two LPN's or RN's and an nursing assistant in a very tight area. It is much too small for the number of patients who we handle and trying to ignore NN in such a small area where there is so much intimacy between the nursing staff and the four physicians who all work toward helping the sick and injured is like ignoring an elephant in the middle of your living room. It would help us to have a strictly clerical person to fill out all of the forms. They are now charging $1 for each lab test and $5 for xrays, all of which are doubled for non-residents. It costs $5 for each prescription and $5 to be seen. It is impossible to shut my ears to the derisive comments and snickering or to the fact that he/she/it refuses to help my patients. Yesterday, I called the lab to get blood drawn on a man in renal failure on dialysis who claimed temporary shortness of breath after such a treatment. The lab tech did not come and then when the lab tech did come, she was told that no one had orders to have blood drawn. I think that NN was involved but have no proof. The patient waited for 3 hours because of all of this. Enough of this; except that I told the assistant medical director that it was a matter of she/he/it or me on Tuesday.

The sunrise and sunset on Tuesday were gorgeous but it rained a lot of the time in between. Showers come and go here with wild abandon. The potholes are really bad. I got my tire replaced a few minutes ago. There are trees here that have just come into bloom which are spectacular; I think they are called bottle brush trees that have cones of orange (6-8") and then develop petals at the base of the cone, all of which are bright orange. They look like giant geraniums, the size of maples. Really marvelous. The hibiscus continue to bloom as long as I have been here. One house en route home has two huge purple bougainvillia and many other lovely plants in the yard. Too bad, that their front looks out on the busy road and a store across the street. One of the two radio station has a series of short ads promoting Island clean-up and trash-avoidance. They have cute little plays about "Chicken-Man" who is on a crusade to do this. I work this evening and then the following evening and do not know my schedule after this. Enjoyed the "weapons of mass destruction" under google.com that several of you told me about. Keep writing back!

I miss Mensa, dancing and you, of course.

Love, Genie
