Friday July 25 Monthly Gathering (MOG)
"All About MIDI"

MIDI is the acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface.
This protocol allows electronic devices (usually synthesizers, but also computers, light show controllers, VCR?s, multi-track recorders, etc.) to interact and work in synchronization with other MIDI compatible devices. Using a master controller device such as a keyboard, one can play or trigger sounds from other electronic devices remotely.
Tom will present statistics on how much used it is on tv etc,
explain how it is supported by media players, synthesizers and in software
on all platforms. Then if there is enough time he will give a musical demo using tapes of how MIDI can be used to study music.
The doors open at 7:00 PM for lots of conversation and snacks; the program begins at 8:00 and
will last an hour or so depending upon interest.

are welcome to bring a friend as well. After the program ends, more
socializing and more snacking.
SHARING ENCOURAGED
Members are asked to bring a snack to share, as the MOG will not be providing
anything beyond
some soft drinks and ice. There will be a voluntary contribution bowl ($3:00 -
$4:00 or more
if you desire) for those who wish to help the MOG pay for the hall rental.
