SOURCES

My primary source on the three King Kong films is, of course, the films themselves, each of which is available on DVD, each of which I have seen numerous times.

My primary source for background and behind-the-scenes information on the 2005 film is the words of Peter Jackson himself, in the Director's Commentary and featurettes which accompany the Extended Edition, and in the separately-released video Production Diaries.

Additional information has been gleaned from a wide variety of print and video sources over the decades. Certain facts were checked against two on-line sources: the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) is a huge collection of information about films and the people who make them, but it does contain a few small mistakes; Turner Classic Movies (http://www.tcm.com) is a more full-featured website, lacking some of the detail of imdb.com, but providing more discussion and more context.

The opinions expressed herein are my own.
