PREFACE


This manuscript is designed to be read in conjunction with Peter Jackson's 2005 film version of King Kong. The ideal approach is to watch the film, read this presentation, and then probably watch the film again. However, I am also hoping to encourage people who have not yet seen the film to do so; to this end, I have tried to keep my descriptions of scenes in the movie somewhat imprecise, to convey the themes and ideas without spoiling the impact of the first-hand experience. In my attempt to be both chicken and egg, I hope I have met with some success.
